The NVHS PTSA Reflections Committee for 2010-2011 Presents
Together We Can
Welcome to the Reflections Program!
Studies have shown that arts education can enhance a child's personal, social, and intellectual development. With that being said, welcome to the Reflections Program! Reflections is an extracurricular arts competition sponsored by the National PTA and is designed to encourage students nationwide to creatively express themselves through dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. Each year Neuqua Valley High School is greatly represented in the competition. Don't miss out! Please encourage your child to enter!

Theme
The theme, which encourages students to think outside the box, is Together We Can Only new pieces of art directly related to, and expressive of, this year's theme are acceptable. Unless the work clearly expresses or relates to the theme, it must be used in a title or subtitle.

Grade Division
Senior . . . . . . . . . . Grades 9 - 12

Developmentally Challenged Students
The entries from students with cognitive disabilities will be placed in the grade division which best reflects the student's developmental age for each category.

Number of Entries Per Student
Students may enter as many works of art in as many categories as they wish.

Rules
All entries must follow both the General Rules and the Comprehensive Rules.

Official Student Entry Form
The Official Student Entry Form can be downloaded here.

Judging
All entries will be judged on expression of the theme, originality, creativity, and artistic merit. Three to five pieces of work from each category and grade division will be chosen to represent NVHS at the local Indian Prairie Parent's Council level of the competition. A student's work could then be judged to continue on the competition trail to Northern Illinois District 36, then to the State of Illinois, and finally to the National competition in Washington DC.

Important Note
Each student is encouraged to make and keep a copy of the submitted work. Some projects may not be returned safely, and work will not be returned by the National PTA.

Deadline Date
All entries must be received in the main office of either campus by 3:00 PM on Monday, October 18, 2010.

THE OFFICIAL STUDENT ENTRY FORM CAN BE DOWNLOADED HERE.

AN OFFICIAL STUDENT ENTRY FORM MUST BE ATTACHED TO EACH REFLECTIONS ENTRY!
